The following are selected reviews from thyroid coaching clients.

Kelly L./ 10/19/2011 -- Mary Shomon's call was very informative and gave me lots of comfort being pregnant and dealing with thyroid issues especially when most doctors out there don't consider this to be a big deal. I feel more empowered to express my wishes to the doctors at the beginning of a consult so we have a clear understanding of where I want to be plus letting them know in the nicest possible way that I have spent years researching my condition so I do have some knowledge as to what is going on with my body now. Mary is very easy to talk to and understands what it feels like going through this. The only thing that would it better if Mary lived next door to me. Haha! Thanks so much!!

Bob V. / 8/21/2011 -- During my phone consultation with Mary we discussed the results of several thyroid/adrenal tests which, according to several doctors, indicated no abnormalities. I initially accepted what they had to say but still irked by many questions as to why I felt the way I did. Mary pointed out that even though my test panel results were within the normal range, many of them were on the low end of normal. She went on to help me formulate a plan of action whereby I could be more assertive based on the new information I'd acquired, and express my concerns rather than just be on the receiving end of everything my doctor had to say. Thanks Mary for giving me knowledge, focus, and a voice!

Lyn B. / 7/31/2011: The guidance offered by Mary has set me on the correct path to better health. Additionally, having a husband suffering for many years with CF, MPS, & CF, the recommended book has put me all over his situation as well and I hope to get him whipped into shape~The ah-ha moment! The recommended doctor's appointment is made, the books read, supplements ordered. My husband and I both are revitalized just anticipating improvements. Ms. Shomon's services are an invaluable resource to people medically neglected and floundering in a sea of poor care. We feel quite fortunate to have found her and appreciate her work.

Lori H. / 7/4/2011: You know you are dealing with someone who really 'gets it' when you give them the details and they are asking the right questions! I have been struggling with hair loss for over one year now. I have seen two endos and they sent me on my way without looking at the big picture. It's really devastating when you've lost over half of your hair and a doc tells you it's stress. I think we all know the difference! Mary really had the big picture and she gave me some great insight as to why I was experiencing on going hair loss. I received more information and help from Mary than I have from any doctor in the past year. I wish I had visited with Mary sooner! Mary is very aware of the most recent research and who is conducting it. I found that invaluable! I do believe because she is walking the walk she brings an angle of expertise and caring to the consultation that others do not. I have to also say that this process was painless! It was so easy. This was by far the best medicine I could have taken. I have a new direction and I am empowered to pursue a better quality of life. Thank you Mary!

Heather T. / 7/1/2011: Mary Shomon was very informed about what to look for, and how to go about finding all the information I needed to take control of my Hashimoto's. She has been my springboard to improving my condition! She even suggested another organization that I would greatly benefit from, and from here I am ready to take charge! Thanks Mary!

Lisa B. / 5/30/2011: I have been searching on the internet for information and found tons but now I need help with specific information.about thyroid disease and what are the symptoms for each kind because there are so many different kinds and causes. I decided to check with Mary and see if she could help. I think she knows a lot of information and I think she knows what she is talking about when it comes to thyroid problems. I feel better after having talked with her and now I feel like I can ask the Dr.'s some different questions.... I have been to several dr.'s who are treating my thyroid but I still have the symptoms of hypothyroidism. So I am hopeful that maybe I can explore some new tests and MAYBE get some different results.??? Would I use Mary again, Yes, I would and probably will have to call her for more information since the Dr.'s don't seem to care that much or don't really understand

Linda W./4/12/2011: After following Mary on Facebook and reading the content on her website thyroid.about.com and some of resources, over and over again, my expectations of the coaching sessions were, "this is going to be good". Mary has presented herself as a thyroid advocate and subject matter expert, so yes I felt I had to be in good hands. I found Mary to be not only friendly, but the consummate professional; she knows her stuff. The manner and tone of her communication made me feel really comfortable in that I was being guided professionally, I was in good hands. I have found myself still not being well after being on the medical roundabout for years; I certainly know my body is not right. After the consultation with Mary, it was clear to me that there was some clear areas of optimisation that were required with my thyroid treatment, and she suggested some further blood testing, and these I will pursue of course. Mary has recommended a doctor for me in my hometown who is a not only a thyroid specialist but a sufferer of Hashimoto and Adrenal insufficiency. For me this consultation with Mary was a turning point as I have run out of local direction. The consult with Mary was extremely valuable. Thanks Mary, appreciated; I'll update you on my progress.

Dina G./5/19/2010: I was very impressed with Mary. She advised me to see a doctor and gave me the names of the specialists in my area. She has a lot of knowledge. Her advice probably saved my life. Thank you Mary.

Audrey S./4/8/2010: I wasn't at all sure what to expect, but our half hour telephone conversation was packed full of information, encouragement and clarity. I'll admit to occasionally being overwhelmed by all the research (mainly from the internet but from books, too). Mary was direct, to the point and it gave me a much needed confidence boost to hear that I was on the right track, that my questioning of the perceived wisdom of the endocrinologist was perfectly in order. I'm checking out a sympathetic specialist right now that she has recommended to me (albeit in another country; there seems to be a paucity of non-conservative practitioners here in France, which is a shame as their healthcare is so good in other ways). So - merci beaucoup Mary; I'll be in touch again.

Jeanne B./ 3/18/2010: Mary was friendly, kind and sensitive. I can tell she really cares about helping thyroid patients. I learned more in my one hour with Mary than I have in years of doing my own research and going from doctor to doctor. She's given me a lot of food for thought and suggested a few possible tests that I will explore with my doctor. As a layperson patient advocate, she really knows her stuff and is second to none. I'm grateful to Mary and for her advice and would highly recommend her to other thyroid patients. Thanks Mary.

Janet P./2/9/2010: My phone consultation with Mary Shomon was invaluable in helping me clarify the next steps to take with regard to my thyroid replacement given my symptoms of hypothyroidism, despite replacement. Her call was punctual, and I found her easy to talk with, too. Mary's knowledge of thyroid and endocrine function was invaluable in pointing out the pros and cons of various replacement options. I am a complicated panhypopituitary patient and though I had intended to direct our consultation to just thyroid, her knowledge of the endocrine system and particularly pituitary function, assisted my decision too. Additionally, Mary made a suggestion to investigate a supplement that I had not considered which is surprising since I already use so many. I am very pleased that I made the call and had the opportunity for a Thyroid Coaching Consultation. I highly recommend Mary Shomon!
